INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES

Due to the last modification of the “Services for the society of Information Law” (LSSICE as its Spanish acronym) established by the Royal Decree-Law 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain express consent from the user for every single website which uses non-essential cookies, before he or she navigates through them.

WHAT IS A COOKIE?

Cookies, along with other similar technologies like local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels, are tools used by the Web servers to store and recover information about its visitors, as well as to allow the site to perform correctly.

By using these devices, the Web server can remember some user-related data, like visualization preferences, username and password or favorite products, among many others.

LAW-AFFECTED COOKIES AND EXCEPTIONS

According to EU instructions, the only cookies that require users’ express consent are analytic, advertising and affiliation cookies. There are some cookies that are not affected by the policy, being cookies with technical functions, required cookies for a correct performance of the website, or cookies needed to provide services requested by the user.

HOW MANY TYPES OF COOKIES EXIST?

Cookies can be classified in five big groups:

  • Analytic cookies: they gather information about how the website is used.
  • Social media cookies: are those needed by external social media.
  • Affiliation cookies: these cookies track if the user is referred to the site from other websites, which established with the site an affiliation contract (affiliation companies).
  • Advertising and behavior cookies: they gather information about users’ preferences and personal choices (retargeting).
  • Technical and functional cookies: these cookies are the ones necessary for the website to perform correctly and provide all the promised services.

WHAT COOKIES DO WE USE?

  • _ga: 2 years, Used to distinguish users

    _gid: 24 hours, Used to distinguish users

    _gat: 1 minute, Used to limit the percentage of requests
    AMP_TOKEN: 30sec to 1 year, Includes a token that can be used to retrieve a customer ID from the AMP customer ID service. Other possible values ​​indicate disqualifications, requests in progress or errors obtained when retrieving an ID of the AMP client ID service.

    _gac_ <property-id>: 90 days, Includes information about the campaign related to the user. If you've linked your Google Analytics and AdWords accounts, the website conversion tags will read this cookie, unless you disable it.

    _utmx: 18 months, Used to determine the inclusion of a user in an experiment.

    _utmxx: 18 months, It is used to determine the expiration of the experiments in which a user has been included.

    _utma: 2 years from the configuration or update, It is used to distinguish users and sessions. The cookie is created when the JavaScript library is run and there is no cookie __utma. The cookie is updated every time data is sent to Google Analytics.

    _utmt: 10 minutes, Used to limit the percentage of requests.

    _utmb: 30 min. from the configuration or update, it is used to determine new sessions or visits. The cookie is created when the JavaScript library is run and there is no cookie __utmb. The cookie is updated every time data is sent to Google Analytics.

    _utmc: End of browser session, Not used in ga.js. It is configured to interact with urchin.js. Previously, this cookie acted together with the cookie __utmb to determine if the user was in a new session or visit.

    _utmz: 6 months from the configuration or update, stores the traffic source or the campaign that explains how the user has reached the site. The cookie is created when the JavaScript library is run and updated each time data is sent to Google Analytics.

    _utmv: 2 years from the configuration or update, It is used to store data from visitor's custom variables. This cookie is created when a programmer uses the _setCustomVar method with a custom visitor variable. The cookie is updated every time data is sent to Google Analytics.

HOW TO REMOVE COOKIES FROM THE BROWSER

Chrome

  1. Go to the Chrome menu icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click “Settings”.
  3. Scroll down and display the “Advanced” menu.
  4. In the “Privacy and security” section, click “Content settings”, and then, click “Cookies”.
    • To block cookies: turn off the “Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)” button.
    • To erase the cookies:  click “See all cookies and site data”, and then click “Remove All”.
  5. Confirm by clicking “Clear all”.
  6. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer. Version 11

  1. Select “Tools”|Internet Options.
  2. Click “General” tab.
  3. Check the box “”Delete browser history on exit”.
  4. Click “Delete…” and check both “Files” and “Cookies” boxes.
  5. Click “Delete”.
  6. Confirm.
  7. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox Version 18

  1. Select “Firefox | History | Clear recent history”.
  2. Expand the “Details” menu.
  3. Check the “Cookies”, “Cache” and “Active Logins” boxes.
  4. Expand the  “Time range to clear” menu, and select “Everything”.
  5. Click “Clear now”
  6. Exit and restart the browser.

  1. Select the icon “Safari / Edit | Restore Safari”
  2. Check the following boxes: “Clear history”, “Remove all website data”
